CAMAGÜEY. - The Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in this province strengthens its links with the different forms of production, one of the formulas aimed at reducing dependence on imports, facing the season that will be revitalized from November 15 in all the country.

In a recent exhibition, more than twenty local marketers showed their offers, which in addition to variety, have quality in their presentations and competitive prices with respect to the international market, right now shaken by extremely high costs and difficulties derived from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the institutions present, was EXBER, which has a wide catalog of fine rums, wines, creams, liqueurs, soft drinks, syrups and vinegar, according to Vilma Mendoza, the commercial director, who considered this type of exchange as "very profitable, and useful to know the full range of possibilities of the entities in Camagüey ”.

The Canning Company showed assortments that include tomato derivatives, juices of various flavors and sweets in syrup, and according to director Rugni Díaz Duro, the portfolio has other high-consumption products such as seasonings and natural condiments, from its factories in Camalote , Guáimaro, and El Mambí, in the capital of Camagüey.

In the current framework, it has been decided to also add to the new forms of economic management, since the objective is to promote, from tourism, the strengthening of the infrastructure and the productive chain.

Yunesky Canteli González, MINTUR delegate in the territory, reported that for the imminent tourist reopening, the Brisas de Santa Lucía hotel, belonging to the Cubanacán group, is being prepared, the first that will begin to receive international vacationers in that northern resort, through a link with the airport of the neighboring province of Holguín through the Canadian tour operator Sunwing.

In addition, he added, the E Hotels are added, associated with city tourism in Camagüey, which have undergone a process of conditioning their facilities, and whose hotel plant will soon be added the "San Juan de Dios", located in one of the areas where the cultural heritage of the city is most conserved from the constructive point of view. The first of these to reopen will be the Santa María, in the central Plaza de El Gallo.

It also emerged that some facilities of the Islazul Chain will join this restart, both on Santa Lucía beach and in its hotel network in the capital of Camagüey.

To the extent that sanitary improvements are secured, the process of using the Campismo Popular facilities is scheduled to begin, possibly in December, which will initially serve the reservations that were suspended due to problems associated with COVID-19.

Canteli González confirmed the existence of human capital with sufficient preparation to assume the sanitary protocols included in the Most Hygienic and Safe Tourism category, along with all the requirements of the so-called industry without chimneys, one of the main sources of financial income in Cuba, severely impacted by having to close given the internal and global contingencies due to the pandemic.
