For his contribution to Cuban ceramics, Nazario Salazar Martínez deserved the Prize for the Work of Life granted by the organizing committee of the Fiart 2022 International Crafts and Gifts Fair, based in Havana.
The artist, the founder of the Camagüey's New Ceramic Movement, received the news at his house, in this city, to the extent that Belkis Cruz Saragoza, director here of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC, for its acronym in Spanish), congratulated him.
He had details through a WhatsApp video call with Beatriz Ochoa, a specialist in Development and Image of that company's subsidiary, who showed him the diploma that highlights his contribution to pottery, sculpture, and design.
“The Camagüey's New Ceramic Movement began in the artistic ceramics experimental workshop. It had its realization and even distribution throughout the country from the neighborhood of San Miguelito”, he told Cruz Saragoza.
The director of the FCBC specified that she will put the Fiart 2022 Recognition in their hands at the ceremony of the Camagüey 500+ Craft Fair, next February, during Camagüey's Culture Week.
Then, on the profile of that company on Facebook, they published an emotional note on behalf of the FCBC of the territory "and all of Cuba congratulates the tireless creator who has given us so many achievements and dreams."
At 82 years of age, Nazario Salazar Martínez bids farewell to 2022 with a new treat, since in October he became the first Camagüey's living person in his land, deserving of the Crecemos Award, instituted by the Caguayo Foundation.
This same week he was seen at the Midas Gallery, to give a collateral award at the 13th Provincial Crafts Salon, as leader of the Hummingbird Miniaturist Art Project and promoter of José Martí's ideology.
