CAMAGÜEY.- The current complexities that the Cuban economy is facing, evaded cleverly and with great effort by its Government and its people, are caused by the resurgence of the blockade set by the American administration, which is increasing the financial pursue and harassment to the shipping companies to avoid the entry of fuel into the country, restated the president of the Counsel of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, this Thursday in Camagüey.
After acknowledging the pertinence of the measures taken in Camagüey to guarantee the quality of services and the main productions, as part of the exchange that he maintains in every province along with Vice-presidents and Ministers, Díaz-Canel explained that many actions that report a concrete saving and provide greater efficiency must be maintained.
“Why give up to having the state cars picking up people at the bus stops; to have the bakeries and elaboration centers with more that one cooking source; to keep on moving the electric consumption from the peak (time of greater demand); why allow the existence of hoarders and speculators if we are working for the people and have not risen the costs for anybody; why giving up solidarity?”, reflected.
The minister of Economy, Alejandro Gil, reaffirmed the will to increase the productions without having the fuel usage increasing too much.
About that, the minister of Economy Alejandro Gil had given examples of these measures such as the decision of having no trucks moving without a load, the increase of animal traction for the transportation of milk, the ploughing of lands and the pick up of solid wastes since “the need of saving fuel is not conjunctural (…) you save by making and creating, not by stop doing”.
Miguel Díaz-Canel said that we have accomplished a reduction in the affectations thanks to the support of the people and the actions of the executives, many of whom were still students in the rougher years of the Special Period and now have risen, have learned, to dust off the alternatives used back then. That is why, he affirmed that what we have done will make us “better revolutionaries, better citizens, better public officials”.
He qualified as “particularly meaningful” the support of the young people. “They add energy, will to do, in a few years they will take our offices and now we have to seize time for these future officials to learn in real time”.
In Camagüey, for instance, according to the explanation given by the deputy Isabel González Cárdenas, president of the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Party, four university student contingents support, during this period of class reduction, the control of prizes, the subsidy program, the epidemiological surveillance and the teaching process in several education levels.
The president of the Counsel of State and Ministers remarked that the concept of the working adjustments is not the interruption, but the shift of work, to the impulse of irreplaceable productions that do continue, to the beautification tasks and the servicing of vehicles and equipment that are stopped today which will have to reinforce the efforts once the situation normalizes.
In Camagüey an example of this are the drivers that act as popular transportation inspectors, known as “yellows” and as mechanics of their own equipments.
This was acknowledged and called to be maintained by the minister of transportation Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, who called, also, to provide for appropriate information to people and to extreme the precaution in the road in times of having more vehicles pulling over at the bus stops and diverse equipment transporting merchandise and passengers.
In the Transportation sector, besides, to ease the deficit in the vehicle availability, it is applied as a variant the activation of other 15 new pick up points, and also to prioritize the places with highest concentration of people, such as the Modelo, the University of Camagüey, La Rafelita, Casino Campestre, Cuba Street, the Oncological Hospital and Finlay Park.
The main executives of the Electric Company, Health care, the industry and food companies, Commerce, Transportation, as well as Nuevitas harbor and the fuel marketing company Cupet reported their respective situations.
Ariel Santana Santiesteban, member of the Party Central Committee and its first secretary in the territory, reaffirmed the will of resistance and victory of the people of Camagüey, a province of Homeland or Death!
Elvis Pérez Olivera, deputy of the Ministry of Agriculture in the territory, referred during the meeting that today the increase of the transportation of milk by animal traction, the planting campaign and the transfer of products in an integrated way with other organisms are priorities.
Salvador Valdés Mesa, first vice-president of the Counsel of State and Ministers, insisted in the potentialities of Camagüey for the production of food.
