CAMAGÜEY.- The University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, the first created by the Revolution, made progress during 2023 in the development of projects for the application of artificial intelligence techniques.
Santiago Lajes Choy, rector of the aforementioned academic institution, highlighted among the main results the improvements in the generation and distribution of energy, bovine reproduction studies, new models of construction and conservation of buildings, the recovery of infrastructure and management railway, as well as information management, prediction and meteorological forecasts.
In other areas, he commented, the Camagüey-based house of higher education also demonstrated its strengths, and among them, it recognized the qualification of 35 new doctors in sciences, in addition to the obtaining of six awards from the Cuban Academy of Sciences and another 12 at the national level.
At the same time, he said, the project The comprehensive training of professionals and their leadership in managerial missions was distinguished in the country, and the student link to work practice activities and the solution of social problems, production and services was consolidated, which contribute to territorial development and the strategic sectors of the province.
Currently, the University of Camagüey, he stated, has a network infrastructure with 34 professional servers and more than 2,025 interconnected computers, with high speeds of Internet browsing and RedUniv, synchronous and asynchronous messaging, FTP and videoconferencing for the benefit of more than 25 thousand users.
Among the projections for this year, he explained that this staff hopes to graduate more than 1,700 new professionals and accredit the degrees in Electrical Engineering, Agronomy, as well as the master's degrees in Tourism Management, Regional Development, Management of Science and Innovation, Inclusion Socio-educational, Sports Training Methodology for High Performance, in addition to the doctorate in Accounting and Financial Sciences.
With 12 Municipal University Centers, 10 faculties, the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz leads 104 projects and promotes eight innovation programs linked to food sovereignty, energy efficiency, housing construction, sustainable development of tourism, computerization, among other socioeconomic priorities.
