CAMAGÜEY.- One of the priorities of the José Martí Cultural Society (SCJM), Camagüey’s subsidiary, for the current summer stage, is the programming of activities in communities of this city, focused on healthy entertainment and the promotion of the different artistic manifestations .

The institution's executive secretary, Beatriz Henry Milanés, informed Adelante that moments will be held to promote reading, dance, declamation, poetry and other talents that each site will contribute, according to the creative capacity of the citizens.

The specialist said that the meetings, dedicated to the 96th anniversary of the birth of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, will take place in the Vigía-Florat Popular Council and in Latin America. In the first, it will be held in district 65, where the Martian Community Club, Los dos Principe, is located, and in the same area, in district 157, the Abdala Community Club, will also carry out various activities, she pointed out.

In the case of Latin America, the member of the SCJM and professor at the Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences, Nancy Iraola Valdés, will attend, who, along with some of the students of that entity, will generate debates from a conversation with the inhabitants of that enclave.

Regarding the projections of the Society, for the current summer stage, Henry Milanés said that we are trying to expand through the communities, because we want to grow with the number of Martí’s clubs that carry out activities in order to promote and disseminate the values ​​of our culture, and that the residents of the different places get closer to the roots of the neighborhood where they live, to the local, national and universal history.

Another of the proposals will be the Manus Aurea project, which will show its textile creations and will exchange with members of circles of grandparents and nearby inhabitants, from the Jesús Suárez Gayol Museum, informed Beatriz, who pointed out that the initiative will be carried out on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women, will also highlight the values ​​of the combatant of the Cuban Revolution, Vilma Espín Guillois.

For these holidays, the summer courses will return, at the Casa de la Memoria, such as the one on Citizen Participation in Innovation, organized by the Informatics Union, of this territory, which will be taught in the first two weeks of August. Next Tuesday the 19th, the poet, Elsa Morales Naranjo, will share with children with educational needs in the Piedra Verde gathering, from the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Special School.

This 2022, the SCJM, a provincial subsidiary, has organized an extensive calendar with the purpose of commemorating the 25th anniversary of its creation, which has included the return of the 24th Symposium From Guáimaro to Playita, in April and the tribute to the founders and the most outstanding members.

One of the work guidelines of this non-governmental entity is to promote the operation of the community Martí’s Clubs, as a way of extolling the thinking of Cubans, through ethics, study and love of the work of the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí Pérez.
