CAMAGÜEY. - More than one hundred Camagüey´s health professionals gives their services and knowledge in 17 nations affected by the COVID-19, illness caused by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, present at the moment in more than 180 geographical points of the world.
The biggest representation of the cooperating doctors of the territory is in Mexico, and in the African continent in Angola and South Africa, mentioned to the ACN Diamaris Suárez González, chief of the department of Collaboration in the Direction of the sector in the Camagüey province.
Up to the date, 50 doctors, 53 nurses, and eight workers of other profiles, which includes specialists in Clinical Laboratory, Electro-medicine, and technical staff in Hygiene and Epidemiology, integrate the International Contingent of Doctors Specializing in the Confrontation of Disasters and Serious Epidemics Henry Reeve.
The Camagüey´s collaborators- almost all with labor experience in the exterior - are mostly specialists in General Integral Medicine, in addition to clinical, intensive’s specialists and Infirmary personnel.
The official added that in these moments other professionals of the territory enlist and receive the preparation, which is carried out before setting off to fulfill the mission, in the Central Unit of Medical Cooperation in Havana.
At the end of the previous month, the province had 1 982 collaborators - including the members of the mentioned International Contingent - spread in 47 nations, but with major presence in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, where there are 1 408 Camagüey’s doctors.
To this Brigade - founded in 2005 by Fidel Castro - the World Health Organization (WHO) granted it the Award of Public Health in Memory of the Doctor Lee Jong-wook, recognition delivered during 70th World Assembly of the Health.
