CAMAGÜEY.- The strategies implemented in this province for saving electric power, to face the current energetic situation caused by the escalation of the American blockade against Cuba, report decreasing trends of the consumption of this service in hours of high demand.
In a recent analysis by the Council of the Provincial Management, specialists of the Electric Company (OBE) in the demarcation, gave a seminar for unifying the actions to maintain such results and to put the available resources to their best use, without affecting the basic services for the population.
Luis Sisto Mora, vice president of this governmental institution, demanded a more systematic work by the managers and executives in the territory in order to accomplish the standardized consumption.
The OBE in Camagüey monitors the fulfillment of the power saving measures in the high consuming centers in the territory, especially in the peak hours from 11 in the morning to one o’clock in the afternoon; and from six to ten in the evening, informed Anayancy Pérez Valle, specialist of the Institutional Communication Group in this entity.

As part of the disclosure actions through the local communication media to raise awareness, functionaries of the Integrated Center for Customer Service in the OBE suggest moving some domestic chores made during the hours of high demand after six in the evening, to a previous moment, between two and five in the afternoon.
In this case is included the cooking of food, activity that uses electric power as main source, referred the specialist; at the same time, she confirmed that there has not been set yet a blackout schedule and, if it is necessary to take this measure, the population will be informed timely.
Over 1 257 saving measures in about 153 entities are being applied in this demarcation, according to the recent analysis headed by Miguel Díaz- Canel Bermúdez, president of the Councils of State and Ministers.
A positive example is shown in the Health institutions, with the decrease of power consumption in almost 15 megawatts (mw) per day, as an effect of saving and without affecting the quality of the services.
In Camagüey there are, besides, emergency power generators ready for work and four photo-voltaic solar farms functioning, that produce daily 38 mw for the National Electric Energy System.
Likewise, the most distant communities have installed solar panels, and in case of malfunction of any of them, the people of the areas can report the incidents to the number 1888 and register their information to solve the problem.
