CAMAGÜEY.- Georvis Taquechel Román, the national director of Preuniversity urged to conceive a superior academic year and to correct deficiencies that undermine the learning process. To begin September focused on solving problems should be the primary line of work of the education sector in the province.

At the time of his most recent visit to the territory, the executive recognized Camagüey as one of the provinces with better results in the country in the area of education. However, he acknowledged that to complete the lack of teachers and to increase the quality personnel training are still necessary.

“The new stage will be an opportunity to improve aspects as the teachers’ attention and stimulation. If it is important to train new teachers, it is more important to keep the ones we have. In this regard, we rely on the people from Camagüey because we are aware of their close linkage with other institutions and the clearly support from the political leadership of the territory”, he said.

In turn, Taquechel Román underscored the political preparation of schoolteachers and pupils, the professional growth, the preventive work in the classrooms and the increasingly all-around lesson planning as vital tasks.

“The fact that we did not get the results we had hoped for in the first call for the college entrance exams is not a secret, particularly in Math and History. This does not mean that we are going about it all wrong or that there is a rollback, it just shows us the need to increase learning levels and to strengthen the links with the family”.

For the 2019-2020 academic year, the sector will focus detailed attention on the teaching of art and the aesthetic education of the students, by strengthening traditions, customs, cultural identity and values.
