CAMAGÜEY.- The Provincial Center for the Book and Literature (CPLL) will dedicate its next virtual session to 60 years after the victory of Girón, with the publication of talks, presentations and videos, from April 15 to 19.

This event is known as the first great defeat of North American imperialism in America, and the confrontation lasted from April 17 to 19, 1961, in an area of the southern coast of Cuba.

That invasion of Playa Girón had as a preamble on the 15th, bombings of airports in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, by planes manned by mercenaries wearing Cuban insignia, although they came from Central America.

To commemorate the event, intellectuals from different humanistic specialties will share their points of view from spaces that the CPLL has set up for the enjoyment of authors, specialists and readers.

Yunielkis Naranjo Guerra, director of the institution, published on his Facebook profile the extensive program that will promote several books, among which is The revolutionary aviation between Girón and the Crisis (Editorial Verde Olivo), by Eddy Hernández Capote.

The celebrations will culminate on the 19th with the Concert for the Peace, for the Girón's Victory, starring young people from the Hermanos Saíz Association and the Golpe a Golpe sociocultural project, broadcast from the La Comarca Literary Café.

For social networks, the management of the CPLL during the pandemic has been colossal. It is enough to mention that on its YouTube channel there are more than one hundred audiovisuals as evidence of the work of writers, booksellers and specialists, of an intense cultural movement in the Cradle of Cuban literature.
