CAMAGUEY.- This Monday begins the path of the 61st National Baseball Series for the Bulls of the Plain, with the concentration of the first part of the preselection. After overcoming the COVID-19 episode and reorganizing the group to include some that were not initially in the plans, the pitchers and receivers will return to the field of “Cándido González”.
As announced by the provincial baseball commissioner, Duniesky Pacheco, “we will re-establish the bubble format based in the Camagüey hotel, where everything is ready to comply with the sanitary protocol. Faced with the impossibility of holding the provincial championship or another event, we had to make a direct call.

The new roster is made up of 36 athletes, three receivers and 33 pitchers. The presence of seven left-handers and four men from other territories stands out in the group of pitchers.
In this regard, coach Pedro Luis Lazo told Adelante: “this is a more complete preselection than last year, and with the time we have, we can get a much more competitive staff. We have several qualified lefties and we expect three or four to be ready to perform in the Series.
“As for the boys who come from different provinces, they all have possibilities to join the team and contribute a lot. Juan Ramón Olivera from Granma should have a better second year; Ariel Borrego and Pedro Luis Guzmán from Pinar del Río have quality, and the latter, experience with the Vegueros and the Piratas; and Julio Raizán Montesinos is a player who at the time was considered one of the best talents of the Industriales and after trying his luck abroad, now he wants to show off in Cuba again ”.
At a press conference, it was also learned that the coach Luis Gómez is not on the payroll because he was called to the Cuban team that will participate in the 3rd Caribbean Cup in Curaçao, in which Frank Madan could also be included if his contract is not finalized in Mexico. Yendry Téllez will not start training either because he is isolated because he is a contact with a positive case for SARS-CoV-2.
