CAMAGÜEY.- The National Council of Performing Arts has officially confirmed the holding of the National Theater Festival of Camagüey, from November 14th to 24th, according to a note published on its Cubaescena website.

The announcement is made with the selection of the 21 plays that will be part of this important cultural event, one of the most expected events in Camagüey, with its deeply rooted theatrical tradition.

This year it will pay tribute to René Fernández, National Theater Award winner 2007, and to the artistic career of Maribel López, director of the Guiñol Guantánamo and founder of the Guantánamo-Baracoa Theater Crusade.

Like every edition, the Camagüey's Festival is distinguished by being a meeting place for creators, critics and the public, by promoting the diversity and quality of the performing arts in the country.

However, the memory of the difficulties faced in 2022 persists, when the event could not be held and an extended version was attempted in 2023, known as the Ciudad Teatral celebration, also unfinished.

However, the news makes us dream of ten days of programming full of shows for all types of audiences, as well as spaces for critical reflection, workshops and exchange with creators.

Kenny Ortigas Guerrero, provincial director of Culture in Camagüey, shared the poster with an emotional reflection on his career in the theater. “Will this be an old-fashioned Festival? I don't know, but we will do our best to make it so,” he concluded.
