HAVANA.— The Young Pioneer Action Forces (FAPI) will return this summer to engage Cuban schoolchildren in productive work, the preservation of local history, and energy-saving initiatives.

The program will take place in two stages—the second half of June and the final week of August—and will bring together students from all educational levels in community councils across the country, working closely with the Youth Community Network.

As part of the preparations, Chabeli Arencibia Martell, president of the José Martí Pioneer Organization (OPJM), met with a group of young pioneers at Frank País García Primary School in Havana’s Plaza de la Revolución municipality to discuss the initiative and its objectives.

During the meeting, participants reviewed plans for the reactivation of FAPI and outlined the activities that will define this year’s edition. These include cleaning busts, plaques, and monuments; meeting with veterans of the Cuban Revolution; working in urban gardens; planting trees; collecting recyclable materials; and organizing “Click Patrols” to promote the efficient use of electricity.

The Havana pioneers also shared their expectations and reaffirmed their commitment to taking part in the initiative within their respective communities, convinced of the importance of contributing to local development.

Created following the First Pioneer Congress in 1991, the Young Pioneer Action Forces have remained true to their founding mission: ensuring that each generation finds its place in the country’s economic and social development.

This year, the partnership with the Youth Community Network further strengthens that vision by involving younger generations in projects aimed at improving and transforming their immediate surroundings.

Each stage of the program will conclude with a recognition ceremony honoring the most active groups, reinforcing civic values and a sense of patriotism among participants.

Once again, Cuba’s young pioneers demonstrate that the nation’s development is also built through the effort, commitment, and dedication of its youngest citizens.
