CAMAGÜEY. -Like part of the celebrations for the World Blood Donor Day, which will take place from June 6 to June 14 in our country, the Provincial Bank of Blood prepares itself to receive this important date under the concept published by the World Health Organization (WHO): "What can you do? You can donate blood. Donate now. Donate often”.

As Mercedes Pulido Cuza, assistant director of the center, mentioned to Adelante.cu in this occasion the provincial act for the celebration will take place in the municipality of Vertientes. In addition, Santa Cruz del Sur, Guáimaro and Najasa will stand out, while Minas territory will be recognized by its results in the humanitarian work.

This province has reached since 2012 its annual plan which is of 30 000 donations and it is the fourth region of the country with the highest plan after Havana, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.

“It constitutes an anonymous, but vital work to save human lives. With a blood sachet it is possible to give treatment even to four persons, in addition they can contribute to the medicines manufacture” specified the assistant director.

 The blood program in Camagüey possesses 16 specialized centers of blood extraction in 12 municipalities, 444 places of temporary extraction as doctor´s offices, rooms of rehabilitation and work centers.

For it, there are, according to the last census, more than 10 000 voluntary donors, who guarantee the plasma for the medical cares and the pharmaceutical industry.
