CAMAGÜEY.- The significant accumulated rains in Camagüey since early Friday morning caused the flooding of the Hatibonico and Tínima rivers that cross the provincial capital city and several of its tributaries, with consequent flooding in various areas.
The main political and governmental authorities toured the most affected areas and ratified the orientation to protect, above all, human lives. Hundreds of inhabitants of low places had already been evacuated between Wednesday and Thursday. This Friday, those who still remained in their homes, before the overflow of rivers and streams, preserved some of their property and themselves in the houses of neighbors and relatives. In several distributions, they received help from specialized forces.
Similar situations are reported in all municipalities, with flooding in low-lying areas and near rivers and streams. Around six in the afternoon, nearly 3,000 protected people were reported in the province, mainly in homes, and in centers set up for it.
