CAMAGÜEY — The Nuevo Mundo Audiovisual Complex in Camagüey is premiering Calle 232, a Cuban-Mexican fiction film directed by Rudy Mora and made in 2025.

The film began its tour of Cuban movie theaters in September and has now arrived in the city following its screening at the 46th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, where it received a special award from the Quisicuaba Association.

Its early screenings have encouraged audiences to engage with issues such as population aging, vulnerability, and the responsibilities that come with caring for others.

The film will be screened daily at 3 p.m. from Tuesday, October 6, through Sunday, October 11. The 90-minute feature stars Jorge Alí, Luis Ángel Batista, Isabel Santos, and Chavely Díaz.

Calle 232 follows Atila Romero, a renowned film director who suddenly falls ill and suffers a drastic loss of his intellectual abilities. As family members, friends, and admirers begin to distance themselves from him, Abel, a young man who rents a room in Atila’s home, decides to stay by his side and offer the support that others have stopped providing.

Abel’s decision puts his own plans and romantic relationship at risk. The film brings human connections, caregiving, and the choices we face when confronted with another person’s vulnerability to the forefront.
