CAMAGÜEY - The 34th edition of the audiovisual exhibition El Almacén de la Imagen will be held from December 18th to 22nd in this city, and it is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC).

The opening gala, scheduled for December 18th at 9:00 p.m. at the Casablanca Cinema, will include the premiere of the film La mujer salvaje (The Wild Woman), by director Alan González.

Another highlight will be the online conversation, scheduled for December 20th at 9:00 a.m. at Dodo's Café at Cine Encanto, with professors and students from the Manolo Blahnik Art School in La Palma, Spain.

There will also be a collateral exhibition of works made by students of that Canary Island institution, as part of the link that strengthens the Warehouse between Cuban and international creators.

This year, 110 audiovisual works will be presented among the works in competition and the collateral exhibitions of this important event, organized by the Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS).

Young people from Camagüey, Guantánamo, Havana, Mayabeque, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Matanzas, and Granma, as well as students from the Faculty of Audiovisual Media Arts (FAMCA) and the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños, will compete for the Luces de la Ciudad Grand Prize and other awards.

Project pitching, a key initiative of the event, will this year include animation, fiction, and documentary proposals, with financial support from ICAIC for selected works.

The head of the Audiovisual section of the AHS in Camagüey, Yusarys Benito, stressed the importance of this platform to encourage emerging audiovisual creation.

Since its foundation in 1991, El Almacén has consolidated as a vital space to promote young talent and cultural exchange. The 2024 edition promises to be an enriching encounter that will celebrate film, art, and the collaborative spirit that has characterized it for more than three decades.
