CAMAGÜEY.- The Caonao Recording Studio facilitates in this city a new project of confluence of musicians from Camagüey, based on the theme Convicción, composed by the maestro Reinaldo Echemendía Estrada.
The song is based on the guaguancó and it is an expression of patriotism and the culture of resistance of artists who defend the social project of the Cuban Revolution.
"It is not a slogan or a motto, but the conviction of knowing that we defend a tradition, a way of expression, because Cuban culture is born from a patriotic independence concept," emphasized Echemendía.
Wilmer Ferrán collaborates on production issues and participates with his group Rumbatá in this binding work, as well as the Voces duo, the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet, and Norberto Puente on the piano and as a nexus of the Maravilla de Florida.
“It is time to put together enough musical genres that identify us as Camagüey and so that they know that we are alive. The Studio, more than a musical laboratory, is a way of bringing together because that spiritual interaction is needed ”, Wilmer commented.
He highlights the technological equipment and the professionalism of the installation workers, and exemplifies with the satisfactory result of the album Estrellas de Caonao (Vol. I) and Mi rumba no va a parar, Rumbatá's fourth phonogram, recorded during the strongest stage from the quarantine of 2020.
The theme Conviction will include a video clip, under the direction of Reynaldo Pérez Labrada, who has already documented the recording process in the studio and also foresees a shooting plan in squares of the city.
“The artists who grew up with the Revolution in some way owe a large part of our work and of what we are precisely to the Revolution. We must defend with our work what we are, and achieve that this song visually becomes everything it deserves to be, "added Labrada.
The Caonao Studio belongs to the Music Recordings and Editions Company (EGREM). The main promoter of the project, Manolito Simonet, donated the equipment for the installation located on Goyo Benítez street number 19, which had its start-up on December 14, 2019.
Another evidence of the good works promoted from there is the Stars of Caonao exhibition. Visual artist Oscar Lasseria painted a painting for each song on that record. The sample circulates these days on social networks.
