Florida's citizen Elena María Obregón Navarro deserved the 2022 Living Memory Award in the category of Personalities, a recognition granted by the Juan Marinello Cuban Institute of Cultural Research.

A gesture lived as a family

The pain was inevitable. Hurricane Ian brought a lot of devastation to national territory, shaking the lives of many people after total collapses, floodings, crop damages, and human losses. However, once again, Cuba rises to face the catastrophe with solidarity and love. Professionals and workers from all over are joining forces to improve the living conditions for those most in need. These anonymous heroes have the support of their families, who are patiently waiting for their fathers, brothers, and sons to return home after accomplishing their task.

Getting the scientific production of the country to solve specific problems of Cuban society is still an unsatisfied need, for this reason the insistence of the country's leadership in putting science and innovation into the processes that are developed. To fulfill this request, the University of Camagüey develops innovation programs in line with the most urgent needs of the country.

A disabled woman from Camagüey was the only delegate of her association in Cuba to the First Ibero-American Congress of the Tenth and Improvised Verse, dedicated to the centenary of the Indio Naborí and held on October 5th, 6th, and 7th. Adelante goes to her testimony because, unfortunately, for people like her the path of equality and inclusion continues to be rocky.
