HAVANA.- (ACN) The Clinical Research Director at the Havana-based Molecular Immunology Center, Doctor Tania Crombet, said in eastern Holguin city that Cuban cancer vaccines can now be administered in the primary health care services.

Doctor Crombet said that the vaccines are very safe, therefore there is not risk at all for local facilities to administer them and she stressed the need for the appropriate selection of patients for the treatment.

The Havana Immunology Center is the only of its kind on the island to carry out clinical tests of biological products in the United States whose health authorities approved research on two of them last year, named Cimavax EGF and Nimotuzumab.

The Nimotuzumab is a monoclonal antibody being used in Cuba to fight advance head and neck, pancreas, esophagus cancer and cerebral tumors.
