CAMAGÜEY.- The Union of Cuban Historians (Unhic, Spanish acronym) will develop on November 20 the IV Colloquium Fidel Castro, devoted to the revolutionary fight from 1952 to 1958 in the country and to the Revolution in power in this province.

The political and legislative praxis of the government of Carlos Prío Socarrás (1948 -1952), the echo on the press, the role of the peasants during the insurrectionist fight in 1958 and the thought about Latin American cultural identity are among the conference themes.

Students and professors from the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz will participate, among them the doctor in science Oscar Parrado Álvarez who will address about the formation of human resources for agriculture; Jorge Luis Varona López focused in the Non-Aligned Movement and the solidarity international policy; and Jorge Veranes Salinas with the relation of economy and politics in Cuba.

Among the cultural institutions, there will be the Provincial Museum Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, through the specialists Xiomara Lezcano Lovaco and Maileny García Cuenca, who will discuss the available funds in the period of 1953 to 1958.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. at the seat of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, located on Cisneros Street on the corner of Rosa la Bayamesa Street, near Ignacio Agramonte Park, the foundation plaza of the current city of Camagüey.

“The IV Colloquium Fidel Castro, the revolutionary fight from 1952 to 1958 and he Revolution in power in Camagüey, will be a good chance to return to history, understand the present and prepare for the future”, said Ricardo Muñoz, president of the Unhic in the province, to Adelante Digital.
