CAMAGÜEY.—With the aim of encouraging literary creation and as part of the celebrations for Camagüey Culture Week, scheduled from February 1st to 7th, the Provincial Center for Books and Literature, Ácana Publishing House, and the Municipal Department of Culture have announced the call for the 2026 Silvestre de Balboa City Prize, dedicated this year to poetry.

 Writers residing anywhere in the country may participate. Submitted works must be between 60 and 80 pages in length, formatted on letter-size paper, with one-and-a-half spacing, Arial 12-point font, and consecutive page numbering.

Entries must be submitted digitally under a pseudonym and sent to the email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The subject line should read “Premio de la Ciudad de Camagüey.” Two PDF files must be attached: the first identified by the title of the work and the author’s pseudonym, and the second corresponding to the sealed entry, identified only by the pseudonym. This second document must include the author’s personal information—full name, home address, identity card number, email address, telephone number—as well as a brief biographical note. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in disqualification.

 The submission period will remain open from the publication of this call through January 20th, 2026. The jury will be composed of writers of recognized standing, and its decision will be announced in February, in accordance with the program of activities for Camagüey Culture Week.

 The 2026 Silvestre de Balboa City Prize for Poetry will award a single prize consisting of 40,000 Cuban pesos, an official diploma, and the publication of the winning work in digital format by Ácana Publishing House, with the corresponding payment of author’s rights upon publication. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of its rules.
