CAMAGÜEY.- The 15th edition of the Timbalaye International Festival, dedicated to batá drums, will stop in Camagüey on August 29th and 30th along its rumba route, Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

It will open on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Alejo Carpentier gallery with the expo No matter the color of the skin, by the painter and musician of Haitian descent Ebenezer “Beny” Semé, composer of the song “From Haiti to Cuba”, included by the Cuban filmmaker Gloria Rolando in the band sound of the documentary Reembarque (2014).

The first day of Timbalaye will continue that morning with the visit directed to the Temple House of Pablo Hernández Gómez, president of the Yoruba Association of Camagüey and from 4:30 p.m. will move the Casino Campestre, for the theme of the festival: "sounds as the essence of cultural identity."

The invited groups of municipalities are Aires de Bahía (Nuevitas), Rumberos de la Alamedas (Carlos Manuel Céspedes) and Rumbalaroye (Florida).

"The rumba is within the guidelines of the work of promoters and instructors of music and dance with our movement of fans, through the workshops of appreciation, creation and then with the artistic units," Alexander de la Torre, director of the Provincial Center of Houses of Culture, told to the press.
