SIERRA DE CUBITAS, CAMAGÜEY.- The people of the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas celebrated this Monday the 69th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada barracks, in Santiago de Cuba, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo, that July 26, 1953, which marked the beginning of the last and definitive stage of the struggle of Cubans for sovereignty.

With the mention of the 61 young people who fell on that morning of Santa Ana, present in the memory and making of today's patriots, the commemoration began, through art and recognition of those who stand out in the daily construction of Socialism in the province and the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, tribute will be paid to the Centennial Generation, especially its Maximum Leader Fidel Castro.

Representatives from all the municipalities of Camagüey accompany the Cubans, headed by the member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary in the province, Federico Hernández Hernández, and the governor Yoseily Góngora López, the members of the Provincial Bureau of the Party and the leadership of the Government of People's Power, leaders of the FAR, the MININT, the Young Communist League, the Association of Combatants of the Revolution, social and mass organizations, deputies to the National Assembly and prominent athletes, artists, scientists, educators, and combatants, along with leaders of various religious denominations.

Workers from various sectors, students, and farmers with relevant careers received this morning steeped in history and commitments the cards that accredit them as militants of the Young Communist League and the Communist Party of Cuba.

As Reynaldo Echemendía, director of the Camagüey Folkloric Ballet and vice president of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in the province affirmed here, the 26th continues to be the happiest day in history, that of National Rebellion. For this reason, multiple entities and organizations from Sierra de Cubitas received recognition for their results and for their contributions to the collective conquest of the headquarters on July 26, as well as the municipal committees of the Young Communist League and the Central of Cuban workers.

The municipalities of Vertientes and Minas were highlighted in emulation for the Moncada ephemeris, and Sierra de Cubitas, with the Vanguardia flag, also received distinctions. Odelaine Hernández Licea, the first secretary of the Party in this last territory, reaffirmed the commitment of its inhabitants to defend the continuity of the Revolution and redouble efforts in the daily tasks of economic development, especially in the application of the measures approved in the country to improve agriculture, commerce, and the entire business sector. She highlighted the decisive participation of the people in the execution of constructive, productive, and social works.

Federico Hernández Hernández, first secretary of the Party in Camagüey, affirmed that it is a priority for all Camagüey's inhabitants to raise the results of the provincial economy, based on the potential of each municipality, especially those of Agriculture, the sugar industry, and the food industry. He also listed the need to advance in housing construction, electronic commerce, in the application of science to search for solutions in the fundamental sectors of society; as well as to better organize state transport to support the service to the population, and achieve greater institutional and popular confrontation with the excessive increase in prices and other negative manifestations.

Referring to the historic popular referendum to which the Family Code will be submitted on September 25, he quoted the first secretary of the Central Committee, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the last session of the National Assembly of People's Power: "The Code it is a commitment to live, to the dignity of Cuban men and women, it is a Code of love, a Code of peace"; and he reaffirmed the certainty that the people of Camagüey will approve it as a show of support for the Revolution as well.

He called to make a reality, with daily victories, the conviction of delivering Everything for Camagüey, to make a prosperous and beautiful province for the present and the future.

It's always 26... whenever you dream, and work, and fight, whenever good people come together for dawns of more social justice for all, it's 26 again in Cuba, the heroism of that morning of the Santa Ana to multiply in the Cubans of today. This 2022, Camagüey remembered from the outstanding municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, the spirit of sacrifice and victory of Moncada. He did it as its people does it day-to-day, from homage and commitment, doing and succeeding.
