According to the Sugar Company Camagüey, from January until May the territory should have planted 9 936 hectares, but there are only 6 195 planted.
Except the performance of the entity Siboney, which already exceeds the program of plantation of the first semester, the units, Ignacio Agramonte, Argentina, Brazil, Panama and Batalla de las Guásimas, five of the eight producers, have a worrying delay for this date.
In the first semester, stage that the sugar workers called spring sowing campaign, Camagüey proposed 14 564 hectares and it reaches in this moment scarcely 43 per cent.
Specialists pointed out that the situation is extremely complex, especially for the delay in the ground preparation, in particular the break and the furrowed when the rain station has not expressed itself in all its magnitude yet.
The moisture in the soils for the precipitations will make the work difficult and therefore the readiness of the areas to receive the seeds, they added.
In the year the province planned to plant little over 25 100 hectares, like form of being provided with enough cane to increase the sugar production and to incorporate the central Panama and Ignacio Agramonte to the grindings and this way to have the seven, with which the territory is provided, in operations.
