Santiago Lajes Choy, rector of the Camagüey University Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz (UCIAL), who will be present at the meet, added that he will transmit the possibilities of the young people of the country of gaining access to the enrollment without the purchasing power of their family, or distinctions of race or sex.

The student only needs his knowledge, as it happens in the whole Cuban free education, he said.

Lajes Choy, who has the category of Doctor in Sciences and is an electrical engineer, added that like average the studies in the UCIAL cost to the State from 20 000 to 25 000 pesos for pupil in five years of duration of a major, and added that the costliest, for their own requests in components and devices, are Electrical Engineering, Architecture and Veterinary.

The first created by the Cuban Revolution, this center of the higher education was founded in 1967 with two faculties, and now it has 10, with 44 majors and over 6 000 250 students, included many young people of the Third World who study for free in Cuba.

The teacher underlined that the experience of the university in service to the people can be considered to be unique in the American continent, since it forms professionals linked to the Revolution and to the solution of economic and social problems of the country.

He added that the UCIAL kicked off the current school year with the integration with other higher institutions of the province, like the pedagogic studies and physical culture and sport.

This experience is important since it is directed to raise the level of the university education, expressed in graduates with major professional quality, he added.

He also added that it will have an important impact for the country, since an increase of the efficiency is obtained in the management of the education, with reduction in the administrative structure of the university.

At the Rectors' Forum, which is celebrated for the first time, there will be present for Cuba 13 rectors and three invited personalities: Eusebio Leal Spengler, Eduardo Torres Cuevas and Sergio Guerra Villaboy.
