CAMAGÜEY.- In addition to the daily circumstances, the happiness of a people depends a lot on how it is represented in its closest space and even in national instances. From the individuality, it is essential to find the reflection in leaders who make their feelings transparent; in people who do not write in their agenda with the ink of forgetfulness, but turn adversities into facts and transform them into light. This has been one of the most important missions of the Local Organs of People's Power throughout its history.
The Matanzas experience, as its first antecedent applied during 1974 in that demarcation was called a litmus test. When the effectiveness of the new strategy was verified, it was extended to the rest of the nation in ‘76 and in order for it to consolidate itself in the roots of Cuban socialism, it was legitimized in the Constitution signed that year.
Thus, on October 10, 1976, added to the historical symbolism of the date, the fact that the first genuinely democratic elections were held, where the neighbors elected one among themselves to represent them in decision-making in the town, the province, the country. The constitution of the municipal assemblies of People's Power, on the 31st of the same month, was followed by that of the provincial assemblies, on November 7, and the first session of Parliament on another glorious day: December 2.
However, from then on, the arduous task was to keep it running. With a long journey of 45 years, one of its priorities has been to support an active work process from the delegates who represent the interests of the people and a key link in the articulation with the organs, as the foundation of our principles of socialist democracy.
Camagüey has 871 constituency leaders who nurture and strengthen that structure. They are multitudes of faces that, smeared with much or little experience, transfer the voices of their people to the tables of the decision-makers. There are not few young faces in that universe.
Full of enthusiasm, they endorse the concerns of the neighborhood, the communities and without taboos expose the difficulties of the citizens. Revolutionary voices decapitate the indolence, delinquency and injustices that emerge in a certain situation of life. Far from being considered a nuisance in any space or the typical stone in the shoe, they should always be applauded.
While it is true that shortcomings, along the entire line, have somewhat slowed down the timely action of the People's Power, constructive criticism of immobility and adequate information, without "ramblings" or half measures, will make the work of Local Bodies among citizens. Silence is counterproductive and although sometimes the solutions are not appreciated soon, a simple answer can change perspectives.
For the commemoration of the nine decades of People's Power, the land of Agramonte has designed a group of activities aimed at honoring founders and prominent members, as explained in exchange with the press by the head of the independent department of relations with the Local Bodies in the Provincial Government, Maritza Díaz Lorenzo.
The official communicated that together with the recognition actions, its history, the reasons for its emergence and the fundamental role from the Cuban constituencies to the National Assembly will be disclosed. The festivities period, extended from October to December, in addition to paying tributes, is opportune to confirm the vitality of these popular structures. To make credible, in each inhabitant of Camagüey, and of the country, that the government really beats in the people and their power, a way to transform, for the common good, their present.
