CAMAGÜEY.- The Union of Journalists of Cuba in Camagüey announced this Saturday on its profile on the social network Facebook the Carlos Bastidas awards and for the work of life Rolando Ramírez, which has been conferred since 2009, and this year Adolfo Silva deserved it.
With more than 50 years in the union, Silva worked in the Adelante newspaper, the Cuban News Agency and currently collaborates as a journalist in the Hermanos Saíz Association, an organization of the young artistic avant-garde of Cuba.
Among the more than 50 works presented to the annual Carlos Bastidas journalism contest, the special award dedicated this year to the confrontation with COVID-19 was deserved by Jorge Enrique Jérez Belisario, from the Adelante newspaper, for Camagüey for life, whatever the cost.
In the Hypermedia category, the initiative From my neighborhood, by María del Carmen Fuentes Pérez, from Televisión Camagüey received first prize; second, I'm going full of Carmen, which is going full of strength, by Miozotis Fabelo Pinares, from Radio Rebelde; and third, Camagüey por la vida, whatever the cost, by Jorge Enrique Jérez.
The three winners in the Written Press belong to the Adelante newspaper. The first prize went to Yanetsy León González, for the reports Caso Premio de la Ciudad I and II; the second to Yurislenia Pardo Ortega, for How crazy so sane; and the third to Jorge Enrique Jérez Belisario, for So that the shrimp does not sleep.
Among the Radio works, they awarded in that order Natasha Mella, from Miozotis Fabelo Pinares; Look through a note, by Claudia Artiles Díaz, from Radio Camagüey; and Donating blood is more than life, by Elianis Cutiño López, from Radio Cadena Agramonte.
In Television, María del Carmen Fuentes won the first prize, with Seller of peanuts who improvises; the second Aymée Amargós, with Jesús Zamora: a disabled person who found his opportunity in verse; and the third, Rosa Blanco Ramos, with A Necessary Chronicle.
The Design and Photography category groups together works by professionals from various press media. Leandro Pérez Pérez's photo report, Oficio, topping, from Adelante newspaper won first prize; while Javier Lacaba, a cameraman for Televisión Camagüey, obtained second for the material Highlight natural, historical and scientific values of the Limones Tuabaquey ecological reserve; and the third the designer of Adelante, Alejandro Bonet Piñón, for the page Leal a Camagüey.
As every year, from March 5 to 14, the Camagüey's journalists' union celebrates the Cuban Press Day, this time marked by the complex epidemiological situation of the territory due to the high rate of spread of COVID-19.
According to the president of the Cuban Union of Journalists (UPEC) in the province, Yuldys Márquez Díaz, the reorganization of activities on the web space allows events with greater participation of professionals from different municipalities and from different press media.
“There have been exchanges with young journalists; with the Union of Jurists of Cuba about the possibility of being protected from the laws; on the monetary order and how to make Journalism better from that perspective; with organizations such as the Directorates of Work and Health, for the training of our members ”, assured the directive.
Among the activities, the virtual softball meeting with the other provinces of the country, the tribute to women from the different delegations and the panel Fidel Periodista stand out.
This year the actions are dedicated to the 129th anniversary of the founding of the newspaper Patria, the fifth anniversary of the death of the Commander-in-Chief and the 120th anniversary of the birth of Pablo de la Torriente Brau.
