CAMAGÜEY. - Dayana summed it up between sobs while she was pressing it strongly, just with all the force that she could accumulate in almost one month. Sometimes 20 days overcome the exact marks of a calendar. Sometimes 20 days are years or centuries.
“She is the pride of the house”, said Dayana to the press. But the ballerina for sure has not read the recognition that are on the network. The teacher Yamina, the teacher Maria Emilia, they do not stop speaking nicely about their children. Because Giselle has grown so much. Giselle has turned the pride of her teachers, of her companions, of her children, of her Previsora, of a province, of a country.
Doctor Giselle Stable Ramos still does not finish her social service traveling from Camagüey to Minas, and from Minas to Lugareño, and also vice versa, and she already had “to prove herself” before a few patients that neither her teachers had references. The "mount" that touched her in the postgraduate's chart had added her early risers, endless lines, many patience, trucks in overdose, but it had not prepared her for the fright of now.
“When I received the news that they needed me in this battle I was surprised very much; I was afraid. But I said yes immediately”, says Giselle shortly before "dancing" with Dayana and embracing to Bárbara and to Berto, her parents.
The oldest girl of Stable Ramos was always obstinate. Berta confesses that one day she decided to be a doctor, and never again she desisted. She believed that it was a boy's thing, since she had no references from someone nearby. This profession abounds when we play at being older, perhaps that's why they laughed with that occurrence. However that thing about Giselle was not an infantile discovery. She said it, and fulfilled it. At the age of 23 she became a doctor, and at the age of 26 she came to the house with the pediatrician's diploma. From this last date only it separates her little more than one year.
That's why, because they know her as anybody in this world, they decided to support her.
“My parents worried, they are still, but from the beginning they encouraged me. Independently that it was my personal decision it strengthens exceedingly that at home endorse you. My dad said to me at once: ' Go, that this is what you have to do’”.
And then a listening of Berto's order and she thinks that it is necessary to be very big and noble to push a daughter to the danger. When Berto receives her and kisses her and closes the eyes it is even foreseen by the thunderstorm that he spent and the gratitude to the stones for bringing her back. Even to the stones of course he asked him for his girl.
One Sunday they warn you that you must set off to examine the pernicious virus and you doubt that for it one is provided with faculty. But it is not doubted, and there is no contradiction. And on Tuesday you are already, almost without assimilating, inside a few suits and many masks and boots and caps, and of a center of which only you knew the name.
“I believed that it would be more "complex to work with the military men; nevertheless we did very good team. In spite of being a fish out of the water I felt accepted, as one more of this family”, adds the doctor. Yes, this virus has joined in intentions; it has turned the different things from the proper norm; it has also inspired, keeps on inspiring, and it lets better persons, more connected persons.
Up to a few French who were a news in parts of COVID-19, Giselle draws them less Europeans, little Cuban.
“Six patients to that we attended were a love. It is tremendous to see the children being so disciplined in spite of their situation. It turns out to be difficult to make a child understand that his world must come down to a bed and a mask; nevertheless, we achieve it.
“Two French children moved me very much. I imagined that they were feeling doubly foreign, since they were facing such a new illness and in a ground that was not theirs. They were very good children; I was very fond of them, as of the rest”.
When Abubau and Mohamed land in French soil; when one day they double his 11 and 14 years; when they count their children, their grandchildren, the history of the new coronavirus that it shrank to the entire world in 2020, they will speak about the anxiety in first person, will speak about a few Cuban doctors who did not spare effort to save them. They will tell that Giselle (as any other) did not see three French who introduced in her ground the pandemic, but two children and a mother scared and with need for life. Giselle gave life to them. Because also for them she set in risk her own life. And that in French is called solidarité.
To listen to Giselle does that the COVID-19 does not scare so much. But not in terms to encourage the oversight and the irresponsibility. But the determination for making clear that when she took care of them “they all were always asymptomatic ones; neither a snot, nor a cough, nor a cold”, it achieves what she does herself: to transmit calmness, safety.
The fact is that not even anxious Ángelo could make her mad. Ángelo had the inverted schedules, she tells. The nine-year-old child slept the whole day and at night to "spend" the batteries. “He called the nurses; he shouted; he wanted company. Until we said to him ‘Ángelo, you go away’; and already, he was another child”, she remembers happily.
It is possible to bet to win. Again, inside very little, it will be a Sunday again. They will receive the call of a notice that is not such, and “I will return, it is our turn”. It will be a Tuesday of the "first" guard again in the "Military hospital". Two will happen, or five guards. The days of isolation will go away. And then Owen, her godson, will receive her again; mom will lower the stairs of the building with the red rose and the tears; and dad will be precise: "It is difficult, but I am very proud. Everything is going out well”.
