JARONÚ, ESMERALDA. - It has been five years since this Popular Council keeps in zero its infant and maternal mortality, not even the force of the powerful hurricane Irma detained the work in this sector to keep it and to achieve new victories.
One year later the infrastructure of the Health in the area dresses better finery in a new office and a renovated and extended hospital.
The “Narciso Pérez Gross” is provided now with four beds for admission and two in observation, in addition to services of refraction, clinical laboratory, X-rays, ultrasound and two chairs of dentistry.
“We also have - mentioned Dr. Alexis Pedroso Pedroso, the director of the installation - consult of internal medicine and obstetric with specialists who come from Esmeralda and an emergency room equipped even to attend to patients with heart attacks. The biggest change that has happened since Irma is the opening of the service of rehabilitation that for the time being offers therapies of infrared rays, heat and massages, a physical therapy consultation a week and a technician who visits the houses to attend those who could not move up to the unit.
“Ten grandparents of the community were benefited by the opening of a house for them. There they are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with recreational, sports and cultural activities to keep them active and useful, and they are offered all the snacks and meals of the day”.
Before and after Irma, a priority is the attention of more than 9000 inhabitants from Jiguey up to Palm City who receive medical attention in Jaronú.
